Wuzhen has a 1000 year history. Since the time it was established in 872 A.D, Wuzhen has never changed its name, address, system of waterways or lifestyle! At wuzhen, you can experience the traditional way of life. In the early mornings a thin mist rises from the waterways and creates a dream-like realm. At dusk, when the sun sets, a lively Wuzhen appears before your eyes.

Situated on the East China Sea, on the Yangtse Rive Delta and facing the Pacific Ocean, Zhoushan is a paradise on earth. The fan shaped water way, solely consisting of islands is one of only two prefecture-level cities in China.

The archipelago was inhabited 6,000 years ago during the Neolithic by people of the Hemudu culture. In 863, the Japanese Buddhist monk Hui'e and a Putuoshan local Zhang-shi placed a statue of Guanyin at Chaoyin Cave that would later become a popular pilgrim destination. During the Ming dynasty, between the years 1530 and 1560, Japanese and Chinese pirates used Zhoushan as one of their principal bases from which they launched attacks as far as Nanjing!!

Mt. Putuoshan, is of one of four in the country that are held sacred by Buddhists. Even today visitors to the island will encounter monks in their traditional robes as they walk along the many paths that crisscross the picturesque landscape. The center of the island is covered with rich green forests that form a tranquil setting appropriate to a place of quiet religious contemplation. It is here that the magnificent and protected hornbeams as well as the famous one-thousand-year-old camphor tree grow. The sandy shores of the island are also a special feature with its long 1.5km bay known as "The Thousand-Step Sands".

Nearby Shengsi Isles is particularly famous for its stretches of golden beaches, deep and quiet caves, cliffs and fishing ground. Endowed with natural landscapes such as vast sea, beautiful reefs, odd rocks and steep cliffs, this islets are a traditional fishing base.
